The Ryerson Rams have made their mark in this year’s recruiting class as they secure their future by signing top prospect Xander Ketrzynski. The 6’8′ Right Side from the Pakmen Volleyball Club signed his letter of intent in his new home, Coca Cola Court, on Friday afternoon. Joined by his family and Head Coach Matt Harris, Ketrzynski was all smiles as he donned the Blue and Gold for the first time.
“I like that Ryerson was close to home, and they have a great Volleyball program. A lot of my friends that I played with in the last couple of years with Pakmen are here as well. It seemed like the best option for me when I wrote it down on paper.” He will be enrolled in the Arts and Contemporary Studies program, and looks to specify his studies after his first academic year.
“We are looking for Xander to play the way we know he is capable of. We’re really proud to have him here.” Matt Harris says, and he is confident in what Xander will bring to the court in his first year in the OUA.
After playing for Harris over the last couple of years with the Pakmen and Team Ontario organizations, he knows what is expected of him. “He’s expecting me to bring a lot of energy on the court, and to always work hard, and get some good swings and good blocks.”
“Xander is a good character kid. He will immediately impact the Ryerson community academically, he works hard and fulfills all his obligations there. On the court, he is six-eight, he’s a physical player, and can play in any position. This year we are losing Lucas (Coleman). Xander is not here to replace him, but be an impact player just like Lucas was.”
A big first signing for the Rams, and for Harris as a new coach as he makes the first move toward his rebuild after a big graduating class. With more signings coming in the next couple of weeks, he is not done yet.
